Solid and "weakest link in the chain" arguments
Is there a Solid response to https://twitter.com/bling0/status/977750840659210242?s=19
2007: “Facebook is evil and a walled garden. It must share user info and the graph with other developers!” — said every critic 2018: “Facebook is evil and shared all of your information with other developers (with your consent)!” — said the same critics
@danbri What is your response?
I don't speak for solid, but it seems like a straw argument to me.
I never heard anyone saying Facebook needed to share user's data with other developers. What I heard was that they needed to let users control their data. Facebook generally refused, instead providing only access that was crucially crippled, often for reasons that sounded pretty legit (in terms of keeping naive users safe from various abuses).
So, all along, it's been about giving users real self-determination. Which is hard, perhaps too hard too make successful.
