I think it is OK to error at "nothing to commit" on spinedb_api level because that might be interesting information (has helped me to find bugs in client code) but...

Data stores seem to work fine now with regards to database migrations.

Would Manage relationships dialog work for your use case? It creates all possible combinations of selected objects.

I agree with paste support. I just implemented it in Alternative and Scenario trees but many other docks don't support it yet.

We could periodically check if new commits have appeared in the database. This would be a sign that someone outside Toolbox has modified the database.

Indeed, we should advertise the feature more. For example, Exporter's Filter column uses a regular expression editor with a link to some documentation:  The placeholder text could also mention...
