Current 2000 byte limit in userdata is too small
While this is not a Jumpgate issue directly (would be fixed in Softlayer database/APIs), we are tracking this here so people can be aware of this limitation and when it is resolved.
Is there any update/progress on this issue?
IFY, the user-data length limitation in OpenStack/Nova is 64KB: https://github.com/openstack/nova/blob/master/nova/compute/api.py#L121
According to the latest response of my SL ticket, the manager of customer support team told me they have escalated this request to the proper team that will look over this feature request and will give it the proper attention. But I was told there's no guarantee when or if it will get implemented on a future release as well. So I think it will be better if SL folks could help push this a little bit, due to this limitation is really a blocker/overkill in the real world, thanks. @sudorandom and @underscorephil .
