How might I assign a static IP via the devices themselves?

Router issues have led me to seek out a solution on the devices themselves. The material is dense, to say the least, and I might get there at some point myself with this foundation but I'm keen to hear if the functionality may already be implemented or how I might best proceed otherwise.
