To use textarea tag instead of div?

Hi guys,

how does that textarea fallback work? Could someone give me please more detailed installation instructions...? It's not working for me, at least I think I didn't understand it corectly: Pen is working only with div, when I change it to textarea it's no working. (Yes I have textarea inside options variable.)
