I'm new to codec programming, but if nobody else it working on this I can give this a shot.

I agree with the original issue but I think the solution would work better as part of the `typeshare` attribute itself, instead of an external attribute that wraps `typeshare`.

I think this could be a useful feature! However, we would probably have to limit the scope of this change to numeric and string constants for now.
