Mactype rendering core is monitor agnostic. So basically there is not and will not be a way to accomplish it.

Damn, ok. Do you know any other way. Like other software or stuff so i can use both Mactype (or an alternative) and normal Windows Font rendering. On different Monitors?

I bought the Alienwar QD-OLED^^

MacType is fantastic on the brand new 240Hz WOLEDs.

More advertising of MacType should be done for the explosion of upcoming OLED computer monitors;

The odd pixel structures makes ClearType compatibility very challenging, and MacType really make these new OLED monitors shine -- both WOLED and QD-OLED.

I truly wish, however, that Microsoft Windows could choose different font renders on a per-monitor basis, as I prefer ClearType on the LCDs. However, MacType definitely looks better on OLED monitors.

At this time, you have to go 100% MacType.

Possibly, a usability compromise would be a system tray utility for fast switching between MacType / ClearType. Kind of like Better ClearType Tuner, but with a MacType option added:

https://github.com/bp2008/BetterClearTypeTuner

It already supports fast-switching between text renderers;

I propose that an open source author forks and modifies the utility to (A) run as a System Tray utility, and (B) detect alternative renderers and adds them to the list (e.g. MacType). It could be a modified app, or it could be a brand new utility that switches rapidly between modes.

Fast-switching would have some interesting use cases, like benchmarking / trialing more rapidly. Although rebooting is necessary for some apps, many apps will dynamically refresh just fine with fast-switching.

There are times where you're simply using the OLED to do videos and image work, and you're doing the coding on the LCD. Then you want to be ClearType-priority. Now, at other use cases, you're using the OLED for heavy text work (LG WOLED is very burn-in resistant now), and you want to switch to MacType mode.

Likewise, if you have an RGB monitor and a BGR monitor -- sometimes you want to switch between RGB ClearType versus BGR ClearType depending on what monitor is doing the text-heavy work.

So there'd be 4 options in a theoretical system tray utility for fast-switching of font anti-aliasing renderers -- click the app, and it instantly switches (for most apps nowadays). There's some APIs that Better ClearType Tuner uses to force well-written apps to refresh their font renderers, and perhaps it's possible to include MacType in that fast-switching capability.

  • Microsoft RGB ClearType
  • Microsoft BGR ClearType
  • Microsoft Greyscale renderer
  • MacType renderer

Is there any config file available for monitors with WOLED panel like LW270AHQ-ERG1?
