Jakarta EE 9 compatibility
Hi, are there plans to release a Jakarta EE 9 compatible version of Snowflake JDBC driver?
What is the current behavior?
The current version of Snowflake JDBC driver has a dependency on Jakarta EE 8 javax.servlet package. It was shaded in the past, but as I understand it will be not after https://github.com/snowflakedb/snowflake-jdbc/commit/81eb493c10b0ae0ffbcea35828d0dda324dd044b Jakarta EE 8 dependency breaks compatibility with new Jakarta EE 9 based products, such as Spring 6 and Tomcat 10.
What is the desired behavior?
Release parallel version of JDBC driver that is compatible with a Jakarta EE 9.
How would this improve snowflake-jdbc
?
Having a Jakarta EE 9 compatible version would allow running Snowflake driver in the recent application servers.

@justinas-dabravolskas Thanks for raising this with us. We will review it internally and get back with an update. This might take some time depending on the current backlog.
hi - this ask has not been prioritized and is not in the plans for the near future and I don't see any other user interested in the same ask. This literally means there is no traces here, there still might be interest which I'm not aware of.
Therefore as of next steps, I'm now marking this issue as closed and ask you (and anyone else interested) to:
- do comment here and let us know of your use-case and so we would see there's interest (and then can reopen)
- if you're already a Snowflake customer: pleasedo reach out to your Account Team and let them know about your need. They have other options to get requests (re)prioritized and give them traction.
Thank you in advance !
