Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. A clear and concise description of what the problem is. Ex. I'm always frustrated when [...] When entering new items (assets, license, etc) it would be great if we could customize the view, fields, and orders.
Describe the solution you'd like A clear and concise description of what you want to happen. There are existing fields we don't need, and there are fields we want to enter using a barcode scanner so we'd prefer them to be right after each other (i.e. Asset Tag, then Serial, then Model) so we can simply barcode scan those from the servers.
Describe alternatives you've considered A clear and concise description of any alternative solutions or features you've considered. Fields seem to be in a fixed order, and unused fields are unable to be hidden.

still relevant, I want the ability to set the order of fields - built in and custom - so we can use the barcode scanner to fill them in a specific order.

still would like to see this functionality. I want to be able to slam through equipment check-in using a barcode reader, and to do that I need to be able to format what field comes when in the order of entry. It doesn't help much if I have to type the name of the computer, pick up the barcode reader and scan the serial number, put it down to type in something else, pick it up to scan the model #, put it down to type, pick it up to scan a set of prepared barcodes for filling out location info, etc...

Use case: would like to make the asset name field mandatory based on asset model.
Eg: a Dell PowerEdge R740 server would have an asset name where as an Epson PowerLite 1823 projector would never have an asset name, especially because the projector is not networked so it will never have a DNS hostname.
