Only Super-Users can view all companies. We have finance/auditing staff who need to run reports on multiple companies.

Would also need this feature. Our whole company is splitted in some divisions in one country but our admins have to manage often the whole country and not only one. It would be good if we can add more than one company to the people or what in my oppinion would be the better way... add a company to a permission group. So you could give the needed permission via group to the managing users
EDIT: What i saw right now...as a result of the missing feature
We have company wide licences which are attached to people worldwide. If i activate the "multiple company permissions" which is good to separate the companys, i can´t give permissions to all managers to manage the licences anymore because i have to attach the licence to a company. It gets invisible for all other exept that one which are in the attached company.
My resolve proposal what i mentioned above, that adding companies to permission groups would solve this too, because i could create a permission group with a "parent" company and add all licences there.

Or maybe as an other sollution it would be nice to have a field in the location for a permission group or an responsible user field. At this actual state the company permission feature is sadly a feature we can´t use.

Why can't you use it?
It´s not because it don´t work, its because it´s not complex enough for our needs. Let me try to explain :)
Our company structure looks like this:

I have tried to create the divisions as companies but when i activate the "company permission feature" in my excample "IT-Admin 1, IT-Admin 2, IT-Admin 3" can´t administrate the location "Germany 1,Germany 2" anymore due it´s not possible to add more than one company or location to a user. And also the "IT-Admin 7" can only manage one of the 3 locations.
It would be awesome when you could add more than one company to an user. If there is a solution for our constellation with the "Multiple company permission feature" it would be awesome
So, what would need to change to make this happen? I have team members who have been waiting over a year to manage all of their assets over multiple schools.
Can the user company_id field contain multiple IDs, or would a separate field be required to handle membership of additional companies?
Alternatively, is it's never going to be possible to make users members of multiple companies, what about global permission groups other than Super Admin? Presumably this is a simpler solution, as a simple tickbox to ignore company boundaries could be applied to a permission group?
I don‘t know the construction behind. But a good way to solve a few things would be a posibility to create permission groups which can manage either companies or locations, to allow more than one Location or Company, bind permissions to the manager Field of Companys or Locations or something like this

Hi there. This is definitely on our radar and there are a couple ideas mentioned in here that we are already considering implementing as , or part of, a solution. Unfortunately I don't know when it will ship. We're pushing towards v7 and if a solution is not included in v7.0.0 then we're planning on shipping something shortly afterwards. Keep in mind that priorities can change but I'm optimistic we'll have something for this fairly soon.

Thanks for that update. I love hearing that its on your radar since a lot of those issues with multi company handling are not answered or really old. I dont want to push too hard but we are in deperate need of a working multi tenant/multi company function. When are you expecting v7 to drop?

i think many users wishes this feature. I'm now one of them :-) Can you tell us the current state or progress with this feature or maybe can you say in which version in v7 its focused?
