Help with form on page that doesn't close

dirtyForms is working great on pages where I have a form and a close button that closes the whole page.

I have a page which displays info in a table, the user selects a row in the table, clicks an edit button and a hidden

containing a form is revealed. The

has a close button but it just hides the

and doesn't close the page. Not surprisingly, dirtyForms doesn't catch changes in this situation but is there some javascript or jQuery way for me to make it work.
