Native Variables in 0.115

Home Assistant introduced native variables in release 0.115.

Determine if it makes sense to continue maintaining this custom variable integration. Users should be encouraged in documentation to switch to native variables where possible.

It doesn't look to me like they're planning to implement this in the same way as your solution. I prefer your solution. I would like to keep this going until there is something compatible in place in the main code.

I have just switched to you custom component and would like to see it being maintained in the future. I really like your concept of self updating variables. Works pretty nice. Great work!

Just noticing this thread. This is one of my top two components, mainly in regards to the self-updating functionality. Please keep it going if it's not too much effort.

EDIT: I refactored several of my var. entities leveraging the recent Trigger-based template sensors (2021.9), but I couldn't migrate the ones that I needed restored after a HA restart. HA's state restoration only works for input_booleans and input_selects. I think this is my only remaining dependency for this great component,

I have just changed to "var" variabler from trigger-based templet sensors due to value sensors didn't survive HA restart, so I really like this integration and hope you will carry on supporting it.

Thanks for the feedback, all. I will do what I can to keep this integration maintained, but I encourage everyone to use the native home assistant features where possible.
