AP: handle username changes (update Bluesky handle)
Thought we already had an issue for this, but I guess not. When a bridged AP user changes their username, eg @[email protected] to @[email protected], and their actor id stays the same, we should handle that correctly. Specifically, bridging should continue to work, and if they have a default *.ap.brid.gy Bluesky handle, we should update that to use the new username.
I would have guessed that bridging would keep working, but @JohnONolan reports that it didn't for eg https://fed.brid.gy/ap/@[email protected] .
In context: Bluesky allows "-". Mastadon "_". I had an "-".Bridge did not work. Changed handle now. Lets see. --- Guidance should say to check such handles.
@gvSmartEnergy hmm! Do you mean like this section? https://fed.brid.gy/docs#non-alphanumeric
Regardless, sorry it's not working for you! If you're bridging Bluesky to fediverse, all Bluesky handles should be supported. What's your account? I'm happy to look.
Thanks. The dash was not at end or beginning. Maybe I just jump to conclusions.
Anyhow, the current handle is @[email protected]
I seem not able to find it on Mastadon.
Hmm. What are you searching for in Mastodon? I see it when I search for @[email protected] on https://indieweb.social/ :
Here's your Bridgy Fed user page: https://fed.brid.gy/bsky/georgvo.bsky.social
Right thanks. I was searching straight on mastadon.social. Sorry for the bother. For a newcomer it is hard to verify. https://mastodon.social/search?q=%40georgvo.bsky.social%40bsky.brid.gy
Thanks again for the help.
Ah, yeah, this is a confusing Mastodon wart: if you're not logged in, search only shows you profile, posts, etc that the server already has stored locally, it doesn't resolve new remote ones. That link actually shows your profile for me because I'm logged into that instance. 🤷♂️
