Unable to rename layers/type anything at all inside GIMP

Often after using GIMP for a bit I get stuck. GIMP snap suddenly decides to essentially kill my keyboard (the keyboard works in every other program but not GIMP) until I close GIMP and open it again, until that problem eventually happens again and it can be quite often. I have no idea what causes this bug. This is very frustrating as I would need to save my work first to not lose my progress but even then I can't give a name to the GIMP project file as the whole of GIMP won't respond to my keyboard. This has happened multiple times on basically all of my machines that I use GIMP snap on....please fix.
