File Locking?

Open mojomojomojo opened this issue 6 years ago • 1 comments

When I use snaketail to monitor a log file, if I try to delete the file (via cmdline DEL), it succeeds, sort-of. The file doesn't exactly exist

  • I can't delete it again. (ACCESS_DENIED)
  • It does show up in a DIR listing).
  • Snaketail shows me the contents.
  • When I close Snaketail, the file goes away.
  • Attempts (by my app) to write to the file in the meantime, "succeed," but that data never makes it to the file.

My expectation was that if I delete the file, Snaketail will (eventually) figure it out and show me the usual "the file doesn't exist" message, until the file is recreated.

Pull-Requests are welcome to make the file-monitor even better.

Version 1.9.6 have been released, that introduces the keyboard shortcut CTRL + R
