Gateway Light Not Responding

In my Home APP I can see the Gateway as a light fixture but when I switch it on adjusting the dimmer or colour nothing happens and after a few minutes the fixture in the app reverts to its off state. if I turn the gateway light on using the MI app it comes on fine and after a few minutes, it shows as on in the home app.

it's like it only communicating one way

can anyone help me out with this one?
