bugs in <tab> editing mode

(1) When I copy-paste with mouse (ie: paste more than 30 characters), only first bytes go to the console. Only top 10-20 characters are ingested.

(2) up-arrow doesn't work with

Not sure about (1). (2) is expected but not desired. It's a little tricky because you're not actually using a real shell with history etc. Not quite sure how to address this without a lot of complexity, I'm afraid. Open to PRs if you think of something, though.
