Album Covers suddenly not showing up
Describe the bug All of a sudden, the album covers won't show up no matter what I do. I tried reinstalling the plugin, changing the API keys, everyting. Still, it won't show up.
Environment (please complete the following information):
- MusicBee Version: 3.5.8698 P
- Plugin Version: 3.1.0
I've switched to Music Presence found in #253 and it works on MusicBee without any issues. Even the artworks flawlessly show up.

Sorry for being that guy but this is an alternative not a solution, I have to run an entire program just for my rich presence to show up properly?

It was supposed to be an alternative in the first place. And for now I can't think of any other alternative / solution other than to wait for the developer to fix that issue.
Besides, that has been made aware of a month or 2 ago.
I am having this issue now as well.
Strange part is, I use the same API at work and at home, and listen to more music at work, yet it stopped showing artwork at home. I tested with the same tracks across both devices, and only album art shows up at work.
I tried using a VPN at home, no luck. I tried changing my API key (I have a spare) at home, no luck.
So it's sounding like some sort of MAC address ban on imgur's side. Not sure what's going on there and why it won't even show cached artwork. The uploader health for both services is true on both devices.

This doesn't support virtual tags. Basically all my fields in DiscordBee are virtual, so unfortunately I cannot use this alternative.

No, it doesn't work well. Progress bar will disappear and froze sometimes. Still waiting for this to be updated...
Also just started running into this issue. I thought this was related to MB version 3.6 because this was working fine before I updated from 3.5, but comments here suggest otherwise. Reinstalling, generating a new Imgur app/client ID, and deleting cache files (as recommended from this issue) did not work, even though the uploader health is showing as true. Looking into the music presence app alternative, seems like its missing certain customizations / access to certain tags.
Imgur uploader is a hit or miss these days, sometimes it works and sometimes it don't but, it is not the problem from the plugin itself but on imgur rate limiting you. (I think there's some issue about the detection if you are rate limited)
And I am not able to fix this because there's nothing I could do. Also, Imgur is not suited for this feature.
However, I am looking for potential alternatives, one mentions about loon but the problem is:
- It doesn't have C# bindings yet
- You have to host and pay for the server hosting yourself
Other solutions such as adding support for cloud storage such as Amazon S3 or Azure Blob Storage are great for this too, but they also cost money.
I seen some suggestions from other issues such as using freeimage.host which I am looking right now.
Let me know if you know some great alternatives to use. :)
I haven't looked into these myself, but I've seen Gyazo being used a while back, as well as Flickr and ImageShack. Hopefully any of those would work better than imgur.
As to imgur's rate limiting, does anyone know how to detect whether you're being rate limited, and if there's anything one can do to bypass that? Like, my same exact Imgur ID that doesn't work on my home PC, does work on my work PC, so it's not an account thing. And I've tried using a VPN at home to no avail, so it looks to be a machine MAC address thing.
If that's the case, can we report a different MAC address to imgur, perhaps change it once per startup or have a button to click to randomize it, in order to bypass such detection?
@Rings4 is there any software/installation difference you can thing of between your home and work PC? I've reinstalled the plugins and MB multiple times without getting artwork to work (tried with and without using a imgur client ID). I would avoid making any changes/updates to your work instance. For me, updating from 3.5 to 3.6 is what seems to have broken my artwork from showing on discord.
Tried a few more things with no luck:
-Fresh install of the non-portable MB version 3.6 -Used VPN in Windows (TorGuard) as a means of bypassing possible Imgur rate limiting
Really wish I could get this working again, but I have moved onto Music Presence. It's not as customizable, and doesn't support virtual tags, but has most of the features I want and actually displays artwork.
As I use it more, I realized that music presence actually shows me in the "Active Now" section on discord. DiscordBee only showed on my profile's activity page...
no fucking way, deadass forgot this exist... and yet still not updated 💔💔
@fumiichan I don't know how the uploading works, but if a temporary upload(=image deleted in like 2 weeks) works, you can try uploaders like puush. You shouldn't be rate limited but I don't know if there's API for it or anything.

It’ll serve as a temporary fix for me until this (might) get updated, although doesn’t seem likely since last release was 2023 so I’m not holding out much hope
