Smooth transition from normal user screen to black break screen

Currently the break screen jumps out quite instantly, which is a little disturbing every time. So instead of an instant solid black jumping at you out of nowhere, I'd very much suggest a quick transition (1-2 sec, user-configurable) to black break screen. That would be much more comforting.

@slgobinath just wondering if this was implemented? As I believe there is some choppiness for those on Gnome with animations disabled during this transition.
