Not sure if you knew but since Livestreamer is pretty much dead, someone forked it and is keeping it updated under the new name Streamlink on GitHub

The Plugin isnt loaded after beeing placed in the extension folder. Did the VLC Extension API change or is it just me? Other LUA extenstions (subtitle loader) do work. Thanks...
