This may be a solution for the latest android auto version：

You must clean gms data and android auto app data,then unlock again

if aa unlock not work ,you can try this app: you can use Android Auto 3rd party App Enabler:https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/android-auto-general/app-android-auto-3rd-party-app-enabler-t3853009

You can not re-enable developer and unknown sources. You should always keep AA on release and no unknown sources .

It does work well on my phone: XiaoMi 8, android pie, gms:14.5.74, android auto:3.7.584044

The Option "release” is android auto app‘s setting，the location is ：Android auto>left menu >about >right menu >developer setting >application model

HI all, was able to unlock AA and give it SU rights. After a few seconds screen goes blank and AA freezes. Also it resets my phones's resolution where icons becomes smaller and there is a border on my screen . Would appreciate if someone can help.

Next try by myself: -stop updating services -downgrade Android Auto via apk -downgrade Google Play Store via apk -Trying all options (application model, unknown source) nohing works for me :-( WTF?!

I got it to work on one Samsung tablet after installing the UnlockChecker-v2. But I tried everything on a different Samsung tablet, and can't get it to work. I think GMS is the same thing as Google Play Services, I tried clearing all the data from that and Android Auto, still works on one and not the other. I don't get it.

I've been using oandbackup (DL from fdroid) to backup aa mirror, aa unlock, unlocker2, and Android Auto. If a Android Auto update breaks aa mirror I can usually restore aa mirror, aa unlock and unlocker2 to get Android Auto and aa mirror to interact again. Usually have to plug in phone usb to car first, Android auto loads, unplug, restore apps/settings of aa mirror, aa unlock, unlocker2 with oandbackup, and usually have it working in a minute or so.

I am pretty sure what they meant by GMS is Google Play Services (m is for mobile I think). I finally got it to work on my 2nd tablet too. I did clear the Google Play Services and Android Auto data, I got a slightly older (2 versions ago) version of Android Auto from APK mirror site. You get Developer Settings by going to About in Android Auto then tap on the text that says "About Android Auto" about 10 times. UnlockChecker-v2 I think was the secret souse for me as it can unlock without rebooting. But I also did the Unlock with the other 2 apps first. Not 100% sure what actually made it work, but really glad it's working right now. Hopefully Google won't break it again.

In my opinion screen mirroring in AA is like a ping-pong game, Google always block AA Mirror (3rd party apps) and devs always find solutions to hack Google blocks (sometimes this takes much time and is hard to apply them). What should we do?

Android Auto just forced an update on me, does that mean we are completely out of luck if we can't use older versions anymore? I had it all working, having to do the unlock frequently, but at least it was working.
