Some details in your paper

Hi, thanks for your excellent work on multimodel optimization. When I read your paper, I met some details which made me confused. in this picture, you recommend that "However, if we look at (9), the same normalization does not apply anymore due to the complication of multiple modalities (M > 1) and the introduction of the down-weighting factors qi". Why the normalization could not apply? could you give me more details? thank you very much.
