Displaying portrait images

I've seen Lagrange is resizing small images to fit better on screen. The problem is it will always fails with tall images or "portrait orientation" images on a 16:9 or 1280x1024 computer screen (while it will work on smarphone of course)

An example on my computer:

The image is only 293x567 pixels but I can't see it in its entirety on my screen (and also I don't wish to have it zoomed like that)

I suppose it would be a sensible choice to have those options for images:

  • either keep them at the original size
  • or be able to always fit them in the screen
  • or keep the current option with something like "zoom 80% of the page"

Hmm yes, some options for the image scaling would be useful. Currently the scaling for inline images is done based on width only.

It has been in the plans for a long time to improve the image viewer so one could show images full-screen, zoom, pan around, etc.
