Setting for letterspacing

Was wondering if it was possible to make a page look more compact without changing a font that gives the effect. For example in uxrvt terminal you can modify the distance between each letter or the height of the line without changing the font, even making the letters collapse over each other with big enough values. For example for the letterspacing in .Xresources URxvt.letterSpace: 0 is the default value which you can set to negative or positive value to modify the distance.
