The ux trend these days is to open new tabs and not new windows.

The Jetpack branch is something that I would like to do, but I haven't talked it over with @skrul yet. I was going to wait until the branch is done. So to answer your question it isn't a high priority. I'm not able to work on it for a few weeks at least now too, so if you would like to pick it up then that would be great!

fwiw there is a new module that will land in the Addon SDK (aka Jetpack) that will allow an addon to make about: URIs or custom URIs very easily, so it might be worth waiting for that to land.

Thanks for the reply Erik. I would love to pick up the project, but I am just starting to learn how to code. Maybe in a few weeks I'll be able to play around with it, but no promises. I'll keep an eye on this, as I'll be happy to help out if needed.
