Curious how much work it would take to make this work with every ido search?

I just really like the way this generates a new window when you search and it's the one option I wish I had with IDO. I only ask here because I was thinking the framework may already be there to accomplish this.

There was a little work in this direction by Jan Rehders -- encapsulated in lusty-ido.el in this repo -- but it was done four years ago, and I'd be surprised if it still functions. It may not be a lot of effort to implement. I like the idea, and would merge a patch, but I don't think it's something I'd be able to take on soon.
