Consider selecting notes to change their settings instead of clicking to apply the settings
The current "usage" to change a note setting is as follow:
- right click the note to select it ("Pick" it) there is no visual feedback
- change the settings you want to change in the toolbox
- left click the note to apply the changes (and make sure "Whole step" is not selected or the changes will apply to all notes in the horizontal line)
Maybe it would be more ergonomic to do as follow:
- left click to select/unselect existing note (ctrl-click to add/remove other notes to the selection)
- the selected notes appear selected visually (until user click in the grid)
- changing the setting apply them immediately (settings that are not modified are left unchanged as they could be different in case of multiple selections)
- right click could remove the note
I hope it would feel more "natural" and simple for new users.
(I would also put the Controls in their own separate area. They are very different and totally confusing if you open the interface before seeing the video or reading the Wiki. They allow very cool effects, but it is kind of advanced usage to me.)
Thanks for you suggestions.
The separation of the controls make sense. I like this idea. I only need to find some space.
Click behavior. It similar (but not identical to B.Jumblr and B.Oops). I think that they should all behave in the same way. This is on my TODO list in my mind. Then I can also think about your suggestions.
