This is a super popular package, so I plan to wait a little bit so I don't have to deal with so many support related issues. I'll probably do this in May next year.

It's now May, and I just ran into the nasty require is not defined and tracked my way back to this issue.

Any updated timeline for ESM?

Hi @sindresorhus I really appreciate your work and many thanks for this package. Are there plans to offer esm export?

As you said its a very popular package and having ESM will help tools to optimize and reduce the bundle sizes
