Support spacing functions & glue

Open creativecreatorormaybenot opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

Description

There are several functions that can be used to manually create spacing, e.g. ~ or \quad, see Wikibook.

Existing implementations

Should base implementations generally on TeX by Topic Chapter 20 and TeXbook Chapter 12 (glue).

As pointed out in #59, \, also needs to be supported.

E.g. in 0\,0~0\ 0, the spacing is not all the same. This is described in the TeXbook et al. extensively and with our refactor / final parsing implementation, we should be able to add that all in one go 🙂

@creativecreatorormaybenot Is there anyone working on? I would really be happy if you could implement this.

@TheOneWithTheBraid Same goes for us 😄

The project currently does not have a high priority internally, which is why you are not seeing progress (to be transparent).
Next steps for us are #62 (which I added now for transparency but has been the next step for a month now) 🙂

Getting this right and making it better than some of the existing options is non-trivial, which is why this project requires much attention to move on. As I said, there are other priorities internally for the moment, however, this project is not stopped in any way 👍🏽
