Use some kind of bell graph alert of 80% for traffic spikes

Something like this might be helpful as well (ignore the rough design)

Switching to bars might be better than a line graph. With the bars you can break them into different data pieces, which would help to show the difference of hacker news verse everything else.

Maybe on hover do what @Joshfindit describes.

Maybe bars will become an account setting. As for showing referrals in the graph, I not completely sure if that keeps our product simple enough. The bars indeed make more sense when we do. I will think about it.

@adriaanvanrossum - in my view, it would be the clean blue you have now as the bar. Only when hovering would you see any type of details that may be needed.

The line graph makes it hard to cleanly delve into something. Bar graphs have "boundries" which makes it appear a little cleaner when you start showing stuff. It's why stacked bar graphs are a little easier to read than line graphs with a lot of lines plotted.

Another customer:

I was thinking about being notified by email whatever the threshold, like "X is receiving traffic from Y" where Y can be nytimes.com, news.ycombinator.com, etc and this list could a specific section to edit, I guess you can set a limit and offer unlimited alerts to your Business plan customers. Also the label on the graph is a nice visual render to avoid missing alerts on the traffic history. I like the interface stays intuitive and simple haha :)
