[Feature Request] Add a "profile" field for multiple people use
Hi,
I subscribed to a premium account yesterday, and I'm really pleased with this service ! However, I plan on using it with my wife, but she won't use it as intensively as me, so I'm not planning on buying a full subscription for her. It will only be a dozen aliases. My kid is also starting to have half a dozen accounts online...
It would be nice for this kind of use-case to have a profile / person field, which could help us organize aliases by profile. Also, it could be set up in each browser extension / phone app instance, so that each time we create a new alias it is automatically tagged according to the device which creates it. Of course, it should also be linked to a set of mailboxes, and a different default mailbox for each profile.
And finally, it could help to migrate to a full separate account if needed.
I anticipate the suggestion to use directory for that : I think directory defeats the anonymity purpose of simplelogin, as every alias would start identically, thus allowing for profiling on the web. I'm a lot more ok with only SL having this information — and hoping it is well protected of course 😉
I hope you can make this a reality.
Merci et bravo pour ce produit ^^
Some users use custom domain and auto-create rule to share a domain with several people. Each person will have their own auto-create rule that creates aliases using their mailbox.
We don't have an official family plan but offer 30% reduction for additional subscriptions. If you are interested, feel free to ping our support team at [email protected].
The thing is, I don't want to use anything "custom" with SL. No directory, no custom domain... the goal is to add a layer of privacy and limit profiling, so a custom domain would defeat that purpose.
I think this would be a nice addition, and could be an option to a 40$ plan for example. Honestly, I wouldn't subscribe to a second plan, even with 30% off, given the really limited use for now.

If your custom domain is only used for SL (and not for hosting a personal website for example), there's no way to associate it with you. I recommend this option as it's the most flexible.
Sorry but I disagree.
I use aliases on all websites, including commercial ones, and they have my name, address, etc... (plus shady privacy rules). So once this data lands in Data Brokers hands, it will become clear over time to algorithms that this custom domain belongs to me... and the aggregation of a "profile" is then possible.
My use is quite simple : I want to generate the most generic possible alias for each website I sign into. I know it can sound paranoid, but my goal once migration is complete is to keep my final real email addresses completely private, and never give them to anyone. Only you will have them. That's why using only the generic alias domains is the best course of action, and why I also opened https://github.com/simple-login/app/issues/1024 Some bulk mailbox change for aliases would be welcome too.
Also, side question : Do you prefer we open feature requests here in Issues, or in Discussions ?
@TheFou if you don't want to use your domain, you can also use the subdomain provided by SimpleLogin. It has the same customization option as custom domain. For your use case, I think "auto-create rule" can be useful.

It's indeed easier to have a separate discussion for each feature.
