Just to follow up – I was pointed to https://github.com/jasperchan/gmail-to-outlook-proxy, which may allow you to set this up without the need for the proxy.

Maybe you have another extension that is causing the same problem? (Which might actually help in narrowing down the root cause?) Either way, this is not the case for me...
