Bus stops do not use transport_platform_bus icon, only use transport_platform icon

I'm looking at bus stops in my area and they are only shown with the generic transport_platform icon, represented by a fare gate which bus stops never have to my knowledge. What tagging is required for transport_platform_bus to be used? Or is this not implemented yet

It's Transport > Public Transport > Platform (public_transport=platform)

highway=bus_stop is also on those nodes. Shouldn't that legacy icon be used? The tag isn't deprecated so I'm not sure why it's considered legacy
