[Feature Request] - Sync with Health Connect - Google Fit/Samsung Health

Open StaticGamerYT-India opened this issue 11 months ago • 2 comments

Hello,

Thank you for creating and maintaining the OpenNutriTracker app. I truly appreciate the effort that has gone into its development

I would like to suggest a feature that could enhance the app’s functionality and usability: integration with Google Fit, Samsung Health, and Health Connect.

Proposed Feature

Allow the OpenNutriTracker app to sync nutritional data (such as calorie intake, macros, and other relevant metrics) with Google Fit, Samsung Health, or through Health Connect.

#Benefits of the Integration

  1. Streamlined User Experience: Users who track their fitness and health data through these platforms would find it seamless to view and manage their nutrition data alongside their activity and health metrics.

  2. Centralized Health Data: Using Health Connect, users could consolidate their health and fitness data securely and efficiently across multiple apps.

Suggestions for Implementation

Enable two-way synchronization of nutritional data, allowing users to both input and retrieve data from these platforms.

Offer users the option to enable or disable syncing for privacy and personalization purposes via Health Connect

I understand that implementing this feature might require significant development effort and coordination with APIs of Google Fit, Samsung Health, and Health Connect. However, I believe this addition would greatly enhance the app’s value for its users.

Thank you for considering this suggestion. I would be happy to provide further details or assist with testing if needed.

Hi, I think this is a great idea !

GadgetBridge is about to implement its own Health Connect connectivity, which would enable to include activity data from wearable trackers within a privacy-conscious framework.

To this end also, I think the ONT should stick to Health Connect on the android side (google fit relies on HC, idk about Samsung Health)

Samsung health has support for connecting to healthconnect so this would work for that
