could it be used for Wi-Fi P2P / Direct?

The docs mention that this library doesn't do the pairing logic. That being the case, how specific is it to Bluetooth? Could it be generalized a bit to run over Wi-Fi Direct as well, again leaving the pairing logic to the app?
