If we are going general, I'm not sure I would stick with "opacity". I'm thinking things like the Buffalo Gals "Fringe" axis.

Number of lines is one thing we were also thinking about for Briem Hand, so an axis for that might be useful. I like GLOP.

Hitting the same problem, and Colin's `parse-unicode-strings` branch works for me. Please merge!
