Add Pages to PDFs

Would it be possible to open PDFs with this tool and add pages by scan?

Best regards GarrusVaka

Hi, thanks for the suggestion! Would you mind telling me what the story/usecase for this feature could be? I could see being able to add existing image files to a PDF, but I don't think I've ever personally needed to add images/scans to an existing PDF file, so I'm interested to hear more.

I have digitised all my documents and use this wonderful app for that.

Now it occasionally happens that a change or an attachment is added to a document, which I would like to add directly to the existing PDF.

Or now and then it happens that I clicked the wrong button and instead of adding a new PDF, I started a new one.

Thank you for replying, that does seem like a good use case. I've got an idea how to integrate this but I think it's gonna require quite a bit of work, importing PDF pages is a lot more complicated than just importing image files.

I'm considering taking a look at a backend rework later this year with all of the ideas that have come in so far, and I'll keep this in mind in case I go through with it.

I second this feature. My use case is this: I was scanning a multi-page document and by accident pressed "Scan and start fresh", and boom - I cannot continue adding pages to the PDF that I was authoring. I had to look for another PDF merge tool to make one PDF out of two. I generally find the buttons "Scan and add to PDF" and "Scan and start fresh" confusing. It may call for a new ticket, but in my mind, the workflow should be explicit and should be something like in most of the Office and other apps:

  • "New" - Start a new document/scan (close opened doc, warn if the last document is modified and not yet saved)
  • "Open" - Open existing PDF (close opened doc, warn if the last document is modified and not yet saved)
  • "Add" - Scan new pages and add to the end of the doc
  • "SaveAs" - (also used if never saved) - Define in what format to save and where (this calls for saving scanned pages in some lossless format so that it can be exported in any other format)
  • "Save" - with the previously selected format/location
  • Autosave (option) - save the document after every scan or page modification (I would turn it off)
  • "Close" - close opened doc
