Plasma 5 crashes randomly when there is interaction with the applet

Scroll the mouse wheel over the applet makes plasma 5 crash. SOmetimes even with mouse click.

I found https://github.com/kotelnik/plasma-applet-redshift-control which seems to try exactly the same thing. How about a collaboration under the official @KDE umbrella?

@Mailaender The reasons why I haven't tried to merge the two projects initially are:

  1. Plasma redshift control is a python plasma applet. It can be installed on any distribution easily, but it cannot provide all the features I would like to provide. Redshift plasmoid is written in C++, so it requires compilation and it's slightly more difficult to distribute but provides more features. So I saw them as two slightly different use cases.
  2. I didn't (and still don't) have enough time to dedicate to the project so I didn't want to commit to something I may not be able to work on properly

Still, I think collaborations are good, and maybe once I'm done with my PhD, I'll try to reboot the project and maybe start a collaboration with the author of plasma redshift control.
