Newlines are auto-added when newline is manually added after first task or bullet

Open alexsaagi opened this issue 2 months ago • 1 comments

When a user manually adds a newline after the first bullet point or task in a section, newlines are always auto-added for all subsequent tasks/bullets. This has caused me a few headaches until I finally got to the bottom of what was causing it today. Now that I understand it the workaround is easy, but I'm posting it here anyway for others to see, for documentation to cover why it's this way, or for bug fixing.

Reproduction steps:

  1. Create some heading
  2. Create a task or bullet point
  3. Add a newline between it and the next task/bullet
  4. Proceed to notice newlines get added automatically after future bullets/tasks.
  5. Notice that adding a new heading will reset the issue again. See screenshot. Green boxes are intentional newlines, red boxes were added automatically.

I'm on version 2.1.9. I wouldn't say this is critical to fix now that I understand it, but it did cause some aggravation for a while when I didn't. It's not a brand new issue.

I noticed this too. This is out-of-the-box behavior coming from CodeMirror. I assume there's some assumption that this is what people want (if you like spacing between bullet points) but I agree it's not intuitive.
