I wonder if this package is no longer maintained because there are quite a few open issues, some of which are over 4-5 years old now. If it has been abandoned, it would be good to mention it in the README to prevent people from wasting their time

Appears release of 4.5.0 failing, causing disjoint between features available on example site and latest release (custom input support missing) https://react-mentions-oa8y9jsi7-signavio.vercel.app/

Puzzled me for a bit as to why the inputComponent prop wasn't working 😅

This package looks abandon but I am working to resurrect with a modern rewrite. You can try it today (but it's not 💯 and I'm still evolving it): https://github.com/hbmartin/react-mentions-ts
