Zooming (in/out) has no effect (on first launch?)

Using a supported version?

  • [x] I have searched searched open and closed issues for duplicates.
  • [x] I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

In my first launch of Signal, trying to adjust the zoom level would silently fail, no matter how I would try. Whether zooming in or out, with a keyboard shortcut or via the menu, or even via the preference, the zoom level would remain unchanged, with no error message displayed. This lasted for at least 2 hours, until I came to report the issue and realized that exiting Signal and launching it again sufficed to workaround the problem.

Steps to reproduce

I have no idea if the conditions necessary to reproduce can be recreated, but if so, all that is needed after is to try changing the zoom, for example Ctrl+-.

Expected result

The size of text messages should decrease (for example).

Actual result

Nothing

Hello! Thanks for the report. Could you provide a debug log, please?

@indutny-signal: I'm afraid it's too late, no. Signal had other issues so I restarted it a few times, and my logs don't go far enough to cover that launch. The issue still isn't present on this launch.
