Hi, sorry for the issue-- often this happens on Linux if you updated the app (like apt upgrade) while it's running. Is it fixed when you restart the app?

Hi This always happens on update because Signal-desktop is always running, the same way it is always running in my Android. Yes, restarting Signal-desktop fixes the issue. Some software do this seamlessly on updates (e.g. syncthing)

It is fixed since some releases now. A button shows an update happened and proposes restart.
