Deactivating Stories broken

Bug description

With the newest update v7.39.0 the "Stories" button in the bottom menu is visible, even though I disabled Stories in my settings. I can even add a story it seems (not tested). It looks like Stories are not disabled at all?! I also tried to disable and enable the setting. Do you guys just remove the Stories button in the bottom menu when someone opts-out of the feature? Well something is broken, just wanted to let you know.
