Bug description

When opening a picture within a chat and zoom in, it is impossible to properly pan / move through that zoomed picture. Instead it either jumps to the next picture or it jumps back to the origin position as soon as you release your finger.

Steps to reproduce

  • Open a chat with a picture within
  • Open the picture and zoom in
  • Try to pan / move through the zoomed picture

Actual result: Either it jumps to the next picture or it jumps back to the start position as soon as you release your finger. Expected result: Panning / moving through picture should work properly and smoothly and as soon as you release your finger, the zoomed picture should stay in that position.

Device info

Device: OnePlus 8 Pro | OnePlus Nord 2 Android version: 13.1 Signal version: 7.2.4

@Sommergoldhaehnchen I believe this is a dup of https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Android/issues/13163

@sailbird I'm not sure, I think it's a different behaviour. In #13163 he addresses the problem that the next image appears when scrolling. In my case the problem is, that one cannot scroll through the entire zoomed picture without the picture jumping back or without the scrolling is completely not working. If you zoomed in, it is impossible to reach a certain position in that picture.

Just adding a comment that perhaps a good synonym for what you are referring to as scrolling would be 'panning the image' and might be less confusing to people. I think that's what you're talking about, as I ran into the same issue - I zoomed into an image but can't pan around so all I see is the center of the image, but that's not where the detail is that I wanted to see.
