Bug description

I noticed the display remains on when I am on a Signal voice call. I connected my phone with Bluetooth earphones, and my screen timeout was set to 30 seconds. So, while on the call screen, the expected screen timeout after 30 seconds does not occur. (This behavior is expected on a video call, but I am on a voice call.) But the screen turns off if I go home or on any other app screen (picture-in-picture turned off) during the voice call.

Steps to reproduce

  • Open Signal.
  • Start a voice call.
  • When the call connection is established, wait for the screen timeout.
  • The screen timeout will not occur.
  • If you switch to another app keeping the Signal voice call in the background, the screen will be turned off perfectly.

Actual result: The screen does not turn off during the Signal voice call when the Signal is in the foreground. Expected result: The screen should be turned off per the screen timeout even if the Signal is in the foreground, as expected in a voice call.

Device info

Device: Samsung Galaxy M32 Android version: 13 (OneUI 5.1) Signal version: 7.0.2 (Google Play Store)
