Bug description

When I make a call using headphones, I can only hear the person I'm calling very quietly.

This happens for both voice and video calls. This happens only when I start the call. When receiving a call, the audio is at the expected volume. The issue only happens with headphones, the phone speaker volume is at the expected volume.

The issue happens even when headphones are not connected at the start of the call. For example, if I make a call without headphones, then connect headphones during the call, the headphone audio will be very quiet.

I have only tested with Bluetooth headphones. I have only tested making calls to iPhones.

Steps to reproduce

  • Connect headphones
  • Choose a contact
  • Start a call (video or voice)

Actual result: the audio is very quiet and is hard to hear even when the phone's headset volume is set to maximum

Expected result: the audio is at the same level as when receiving a call

Device info

Device: Fairphone 3+ Android version: 13 Signal version: 6.43.2

In the following debug log:

  • I receive a call at 20:15. I answer the call with headphones connected, and the audio is at the expected volume.
  • At 20:18 I make a call, with headphones connected, to the same contact, and the audio is very quiet.

I seem to suffer from the same issue. Fairphone IV. Wired headphones with audio adapter. I need to switch to my computer to be audible to the other side.
