Lock screen doesn't wake up on new notifications
Bug description
Hello,
I have a problem with notifications on lock screen. Signal app for some reason doesn’t light up a screen when receiving new messages. There is sound notification. I rely on screen lightning up because I often use headphones and I can’t see if any new messages arrived until I grab my phone Every notification setting is on in Signal settings as well as in Android settings. I have this problem for months now, Signal app is always up to date. I have reinstalled Signal app and wiped out all the data some time ago, but still no luck.

Steps to reproduce
Have Signal installed Lock screen Receive a message
Actual result: Screen doesn't light up when messages arrive.
Expected result: Screen should light up when messages arrive
Device info
Samsung Galaxy A50 Android 11 Signal version 6.40.5
This gives device specific issue vibes all over. On my A51, a notification pops up at the top of the screen but the entire screen doesn't turn on. It also appears that if I change the notification popup style on the A51 between brief and detailed I get different screen off behavior.
On a Pixel 7, I get a "always on display" style screen turn on where the notification and time show up but not the entire screen.
I'm not sure what we can do here. Do other apps light up the full thing?

Every other apps I have work fine, light up the screen and show all information that is suppose to show. I guess I need to add now, that I have set up notifications not to show message content.
I will attach log when I will get one (not many messages lately, and I need to remember to open the case).

I have attached my log below. Also I would like to mention that it worked fine in first couple months of 2023.

Aha... Good to know that no one cares ;(
It's not that we don't care, it's that it's hard for us to fix something we can't see. Even on our Samsung devices we don't have the same behavior as you and so we can't really try things to fix it as they all work for us.
I would make sure you have any sort of notification bubbles disabled and maybe for a bit try with content vs none and see if any behavior changes.

Well, I have tried everything I can. I was turning notifications for Signal on and off, turned off all battery optimizations on and off (its off now by default). I have uninstalled Signal, cleared data and cache and reinstalled it...
Its just the screen. I still can hear the notification sound when phone is locked, if I wake up the screen I can see the notification bubble. When phone is unlocked (and screen light up) it also works fine, I can hear and see notification. So basically everything works, except when phone is locked, screen wont light up when new messages arrive. btw, I don't have that issue with any other app.

I have Samsung A50 and there isn't such options here like on that Google Pixel. And all notification settings are on. And this problem effects Signal app only.
