SimpleCV is a dead project. What are the alternatives?

There have been no changes in about 7 years. What other options are out there?

I moved to OpenCV. It's not that much harder to learn compared to SimpleCV.

I think that's my only option. It's not a bad one however, I thought that SimpleCV was based on OpenCV but also included many other utilities which made CV much easier to work with and also those utilities made the tool very useful.

You can try this one https://github.com/OpenRoboVision/OpenRV . Now I'm working on the documentation, but anyway it can be a good supplementation for OpenCV
