Show tab gruops in the session list

Short description

I just downloaded Tab Session Manager and also downloaded the extension to include tab groups. When I tried to test the extension by saving my session, I've noticed it didn't include any of my tab groups.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start browser
  2. Install Tab Session Manager
  3. Install the extension for saving tab groups
  4. Check the "Save Tab Groups" option. (I realized there was a check for this while writing this, but even checking it didn't work)
  5. Save session

Expected result

My tab groups will be included in the saved session.

Actual result

The tabs within the tab groups are saved, but there's no indication that they were in a group in the first place.

Platform information

  • Platform (OS): Windows 10
  • Version of browser: Version 93.0.4577.63 (Official Build) (64-bit)
  • Version of Tab Session Manager: Version 6.10.1

Additional context

This is my first time trying this extension but I'm assuming the saved tab groups extension doesn't have a popup, since nothing happens when I click on it and the Inspect Popup option is grayed out.

Was I supposed to post this on the Github page for the Save Tab Groups extension? I wasn't sure since there was only one issue posted there haha.

If the additional extension is installed and "Save Tab Groups" option is enabled, the tab group will be saved. You can verify that the tab group has been saved by following these steps.

  1. Add tabs to a new Group
  2. Save a session image
  3. Open the session image

It may have caused confusion because the tab group is not shown in the session list. I will add a feature to show tab groups in the future.

P.S. Sorry my late reply 🙇

For me the "Save Tab Groups" option does not appear at all. I tried disabling and re-enabled both extensions to no avail.

It would be great if you could have Tab Session Manager handle tab groups nested under the window the same way that windows are now nested under each session. That way, you can choose to open a just a single tab group instead of all the tabs within the window. Also, if you right click on the tab group title, have an option to allow you to open the entire tab group in the current or a new window.

Right now, the way to handle this is to drag each tab group out of the window and manually add this new window to a session. This is less convenient, and also limits the "nesting" that could be done if tab groups were separated out / able to be opened by themselves.

I'm also losing tab group names and colors. In addition to having the tab groups nested under the window in the session manager, it would be nice to rely on the tab group names and colors.
