No Auto Save (and no Backup) since V7.1.1 in Firefox

Open MichaelD134 opened this issue 8 months ago • 11 comments

Short description

FF Extension Manager tells me that the last update happened on April, 8th to V7.1.1 Since then no Auto Save is listed in the Tab-Session-Manager dropdown. Also my last Backup file was created on April, 7th. But missing Backup can or will be a result of the missing automatic save.

Steps to reproduce

Don't know what to say here.

Expected result

Regular saves (every 15min, on window close, on browser exit) and backups (once per browser start) as set in the options .

Actual result

No automatic saves and no backups created at all.

Platform information

  • Platform (OS): Windows 11
  • Version of browser: Firefox 137.0.2 (64-bit)
  • Version of Tab Session Manager: 7.1.1

Same here. Automatic backups stopped working since V7.1.1.

Sorry, I don't understand. Is this essential for triggering Saves & Backups?

The auto save has started working for me. I don't use the backup feature.

Everything works here on both Win 10 and 11, FF 138, TSM 7.1.1.

No change. Neither Save nor Backup is working.

Autosaving has been broken for me since June 11th, 2022 (that's the last auto-saved session I have)

Using Firefox 128.11.0esr (64-bit) on Debian11 with TSM 7.1.1: Same problem. No backup, no autosave. May be related: Exporting session work - "to some degree": The file is created but immidiately deleted a second later- Saving the session with name "...x.json.txt" let the file survive. So could be really something else. My internet search shows nothing.

I just realized that all folders and files of the backups and saves are gone. I remember that - over time - quite a number accumulated in these folders. Now no folders, no files. It must have been an active step to delete these, because I had a lot in the past and went for a cleanup after every quarter or so. The option to name the backup folder has currently no effect. I used "Everywhere" (a very fast drive indexer) to search for it and found nothing.

For me lately it didn't save any more sessions, and it also lost all the previous sessions.

I dunno what I did, but I fixed it.

  • I read your message and got the idea to go check the extension logs.
  • I opened "Manage Extensions" (this on Edge browser) and selected TabSessionManager
  • because I'm easily distracted I noticed the "Collect Errors" checkbox and I said "why not, maybe it show more details".
  • I clicked on "Inspect views service worker;" and opened the JS console (with CTRL+SHIFT+I)
  • No error there, neither on the background.js nor on the main console or on the service-worker console. All regular info/warnings but no errors.
  • I tried to click on the TSM icon to go check stuff there....... and magically it loaded all the lost sessions as usual!!

BTW, I can see that the installed version is 7.1.0 (for Chrome/V8 browsers; while Firefox should have 7.1.1).
